Photek

3d graffiti brisbane art gallery

So this work continues on from 'Symptoms II using the same type of broken lettering and compact style. The idea for this work was obviously inspired from the band Photek but also by modern aircraft design.

I wanted to do a work that had the same properties as the outside metal of a plane - clean, white and reflective .  Originally I had a design for the shape for the "o" but changed it last minute to be an aircraft engine which I think works a lot better as the darkness of the fan blades seems to bring out the rest of the lettering.

The location was chosen for the clean white and green architecture and the actual size of the building - I wanted this graffiti design to appear to come out of the building (State library, Brisbane) and at the same time look completely different from the architecture.

I really want to take this work further now as I have explored a lot of the original ideas that I wanted to explore.  Now I want to take my work into video and actually composite the work into live vision (something I have never seen before).  It is actually very tricky to animate the lettering as it needs to have a certain flow that is hard to nail down in 3d space.
